The history of the Forester using marking and stamping axes when evaluating the woods, as well as the tradition of the early Swedish miner and homesteader wearing long-handle, status bearing, axes has inspired us to make this axe. The Forester’s Fine Axe has a gracefully forged shape, a hammer neck and a long handle. The relatively lightweight head in combination with the longer handle gives the axe good balance and swing at strokes. Use for felling, limbing and at many other occasions. Our Canoeing friends in Canada like to call it the Canoe Axe. We understand their point.

Chopping & stacking CORDs of wood in the White Mountains of Arizona with my dad in fall was a welcomed ceremony. The smells, the labor and the reward of warm fires that kept us sustained throughout the winter, were things I looked forward too every year. I also looked forward to swinging a proper axe...without a good axe the task would have been inefficient and not enjoyable. I was taught early on to always have well crafted tools for the task at hand.

Wetterlings have been hand-made and eye-measured with the greatest care since 1880. The heads are hand forged Swedish carbon alloy steel, this way of forging produces an exceptionally strong & durable edge. The handles are hand shaped American Heartwood Hickory that is strong and fitted with hardwood wedges and steel rings.
